Located in Jackson, New Jersey, the park is open each year between spring break and Halloween, with even more offered from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Within those seven months, thousands visit each day – and have been for nearly 50 years.

Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park

The Warner Brothers and DC Comics themed park is divided into several different sections, including such diverse locations as Fantasy Forest, Movietown, Boardwalk, Golden Kingdom, Frontier Adventures and children's areas Bugs Bunny National Park, Wiggles World and Looney Tunes Seaport. There are several character stages set up throughout for folks to meet the likes of Bugs Bunny, Batman, Tweety Bird and Mr. Six.

Rides are divided into three types – thrill, kids and family – and are rated as mild, medium and max to help guests determine which are the best for themselves and others in their party. The newest max thrill ride, Bizarro, has transformed the old Medusa into a multi-sensational experience, with “fog and fiery flame effects timed perfectly with heart-pumping audio.”

Shows and entertainment begin on Main Street by the fountain, with a Mr. Six Dance Party every couple hours throughout the day. There are also tiger and dolphin shows, the Glow in the Park parade and fireworks displays. Some nights during the summer, concerts are held, with some free with admission and others an additional fee.

Tickets to Six Flags Great Adventure cost $49.99 for general admission, $29.99 for children under 54” and free for ages two and under. Season pass and combined admissions are also available. Right now, through April 11, 2010, the park is celebrating Spring Break with all admissions costing $29.99. After that date, Great Adventure will be open weekends only until May 13, when they will be open every day.

Six Flags Wild Safari

A drive-through safari adjacent to the park offers a look at 1,200 animals, some of which are endangered. The largest drive-through safari outside of Africa is a 350-acre wildlife preserve, experienced via a 4.5 mile trail, and allows interaction with many of the animals as they are free to wander up to vehicles. If purchased separately, the cost is $19.99 per person.
